![]() Here at Windermere Farms we have a proud past......and a bright future. We decided to include this page on our website to show you the foundation we are built on and give you a little background info on us. Not to mention we included a few scenic shots of the farm...
![]() Windermere Farms is located in the scenic valleys of Spring Mills, Pennsylvania. Established in 1962 by Abraham Allebach, Windermere Farms has become one of the most active Percheron breeding farms in North America. The Percherons number from 70 to 100 head at any given time and only the best reside in the pastures of Windermere. ![]() Windermere Started out as a Dairy Operation but the cows were sold in the 1980's and it turned over to predominantly a Percheron breeding farm. ![]() The dairy barn still stands today, although it is only used for storage. Today Gerald and Melissa Allebach take care of the day to day operations on the farm. Gerald's parents, Abe and Mary Allebach are still active with the horses. Abe was honored in 2003 through his induction into the Percheron Breeders Hall of Fame. An accomplishment of a lifetime and an honor for the Windermere name as well! ![]() Here at Windermere we were the first to ship semen to other farms and poineered the A.I. breeding industry for draft horses. We are also proud of other achievments and records over the years such as the most first places at a World Percheron Congress (13), our herd sire of many years, Blackhome Duke, reigning as Premier Sire of North America for 10 consecuative years, and breeding the most All-American winners from one farm. ![]() Feel free to stop in and see the scenery and the horses because visitors are always welcome. | |
